Abstract

The confinement and social restriction recommended by governments as a strategy to stop infections during the pandemic, caused negative effects on the mental health of the population; such as stress, depression, and Food Craving, dysfunctional behavior related to eating habits. The objective was, identify levels of stress, depression, and food craving; and secondly, to identify differences between groups, correlations between variables, and explanatory models, during confinement due to the pandemic. It was an exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative, and convenience study. The N=354, workers and students of the Higher School of Medicine, IPN, Mexico. For this study, questionnaires applied through electronic means for Food Craving (FCQ treat and state), depression and stress validated in the Mexican population were used. We found high levels above the cut-off point, in the scores for Food Craving, as well as in stress and depression. We conclude that in the population studied that, showed clinical levels in mental health, due to high levels of stress, depression, and Food craving, which presented medium and medium high levels of correlation, during the COVID-19 pandemic
